Idols SA judge and Mzansi media personality Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung celebrated his 48th birthday recently and it was quite the affair. The choreographer celebrated his birthday surrounded by his family and friends. He did not let lockdown get in the way.
Somizi's loved ones took note of what he likes and made sure that they would deliver on his special day. He received luxury looking cakes, bottles of champagne and items from his favourite brands.
Hubby Mohale Motaung-Mhlongo made an appearance with a bunch of balloons, a Louis Vuitton bag and a bouquet of flowers for his boo.
Somizi shared on social media that this year his birthday was different because he was missing one special person. His late mother, Mary Twala.
Somgaga shared a picture of a painting of him and his mother on Instagram and wrote a heartfelt caption:
“I'm turning 48 years old. and it will be the first time I won't be getting that first call from my bubbly mom. I write this with tears in my eyes, but I know she has already wished me a happy birthday. I'm so grateful for the life, for making it this far, for the blessings, for health, for the success,” he said.
Somizi certainly had a lovely birthday celebration and his friends came through for him. He definitely had another eventful trip around the sun.

Khaya, who is popularly known as GC - a character he played on Uzalo, also shared a cute snap of him and the Metro FM presenter on Instagram. The radio presenter captioned his post:
"On this day God decided to bless the entire world with a phenomenal person Somizi. Uyisibusizo kumina (you're a blessing to me) my friend, your words always allow me not only to keep my head above water but just back stroke the f#@k out of life."
