Christmas babies are always considered an extra blessing and 102 years ago Hlengiwe Phumla Nkosi's gogo was born.

She celebrated her 102nd birthday on Christmas and Hlengiwe took to the Facebook group #ImStaying to share the good news.

What makes her gogo extra special, besides being a Christmas baby, is that he raised her, she calls her gogo her only mother.

"She's 102 years old today Happy birthday my granny the only mother I know she raised me, I'm the woman I am today because of her#I'm staying"

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that Dr Vuyo Langa is a young South African doctor who took time out of his day to thank his grandmother for all she's done. According to Dr Langa, he was left with his grandmother at the age of five.

Dr Langa's grandmother did everything in her power to raise him. She worked hard so he would have food to eat and when she got to the age where she started receiving pensioners grant, she would share that money with him so he could eat.

Dr Langa said his grandmother did everything she could and that he is a doctor today because of her.

In other news, being a Christmas baby can be a mixed blessing, you either get double the gifts at Christmas or only either birthday or Christmas presents.

However, it is always something to celebrate, being able to share your birthday with some pretty important historical figures.

Limpopo province reported at least 55 Christmas births since Friday midnight, the Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba was excited about the births.
