Mamelodi Sundowns have terminated the negotiations over Gastón Sirino, saying that the two clubs are too far apart on a deal. The issue revolves around the transfer fee for the striker.

Despite the failure to reach an agreement, the club has said that the relationship between the two clubs remains good.

The Sundowns are going to continue to sign players to European, African and other football clubs, as they have done in the past with the likes of Percy Tau and others.

Interestingly the club advised Sirino to focus on his football and compete for a position in the starting lineup for the Sundowns. The club released a statement on their official website.

However, Amir Tawfik, head of transfers at the Egyptian club Al Ahly, has said that they are negotiating with Mamelodi Sundowns over Sirino.

Rumours have been rife over the last few weeks of a transfer deal with the club after Pitso Mosimane took over operations as head coach at Al Ahly. The 29-year-old striker has been warming the bench for the entire DSTV Premiership this season.

Tawfik said that Sirino has always been on the clubs shopping list and they have not given up after a deal between the Egyptian outfit and the Sundowns fell through, according to News24.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that the spotlight has been on Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Gastón Sirino after he expressed his desire to leave the club. Sirino previously revealed that he would like to play under his former coach Pitso Mosimane at Al Ahly.

Sundowns and the Egyptian club could not come to an agreement when coming to a deal for Sirino, before the transfer deadline. This means that the midfielder will be staying at the club this season.

Al Ahly has recently won a record 9th CAF Champions League title under Mosimane last week. Their last bid to Sundowns for Sirino was rejected.

In other news, Gastón Sirino wants to leave the Mamelodi Sundowns but the Sundowns are not letting the soccer icon go without a fight. Sirino has expressed his interest in playing for the Egyptian soccer giant Al Ahly under his former coach Pitso Mosimane.

He has confirmed that he as made a transfer request and is eager to start a new chapter.
