Mzansi reacts to news of Northern Cape beaches being allowed to stay open

- The government has announced that Northern Cape beaches will be allowed to stay open as there are few reported Covid-19 cases reported in the area

- The news has left many South Africans puzzled as many of them did not even know there were beaches in the Northern Cape

- Many of them headed to social media to share their thoughts on the latest development in Covid regulations

The South African government has just announced that Northern Cape beaches will not be closing alongside the rest of South Africa's beaches following the updated Level 3 Covid-19 regulations that were announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa yesterday.

South Africans have been left baffled by the news, many of them claiming to not have even known that there were beaches in the Northern Cape area. A few of them also shared sad reactions to the news.

While a lot of people asked for pictures of the beach, others simply resorted to cracking jokes about the place. Briefly.co.za compiled some of the reactions locals have had to the open Northern Cape beaches:

Briefly.co.za previously reported that President Cyril Ramaphosa had earlier announced that he would be addressing the nation. After hearing the news of a looming speech, many South Africans speculated what new changes the country may have to adapt to.

The president has finally spoken and there has been a shift from a Level 1 lockdown to a stricter and more stringent Level 3 lockdown. Some of the new restrictions include a 9pm to 6am curfew and a ban from various public spaces.

The president also said that those caught without masks could face the law and subsequent jail time. Since hearing the news, locals have flocked to various social media platforms to share various opinions on the updated restriction levels.
