DJ Zinhle celebrates a birthday on 30 December and the superstar has a whole lot to party about. The DJ, producer, media personality, businesswoman and mom, whose real name is Ntombezinhle Jiyane, is marking her 37th trip around the sun.
The star goes by her stage name DJ Zinhle and has managed to build a brand that is synonymous with the South African and wider African music industry.
DJ Zinhle has also branched out into other career paths. Most notably, in 2020 she became the CEO of the sparkling wine brand Boulevard Rosé, which cemented her reputation as a true boss babe.
Briefly.co.za took a look at three interesting facts about the Mzansi celeb in honour of her big day.
1. She suffers from globophobia, an irrational fear of balloons
Though the star seems fearless in her pursuit of success, she has revealed that the one thing she cannot deal with is balloons. TimesLive reported her as saying:
"This one time at McDonald's, I could smell them and I had a panic attack."
Zinhle's fear is actually more common than people think and usually develops from the shock and sound of balloons popping at an event. Many of the DJ's fans relate to her on the subject and have expressed how happy they were to find that others experienced the phobia too.
2. She's passionate about female empowerment
DJ Zinhle doesn't just talk the talk when it comes to the rights of women. The celeb actually started her own all-girls school called Fuse Academy, which nurtures young women into DJs and members of the entertainment industry.
3. Her most important job is being a mom to daughter Kairo
The DJ is incredibly successful and has managed to earn cred in the fashion, business, wine and acting industry, but she says her priority is her job as a parent. On becoming a mom she said:
"I could never have been prepared for the force of love that hit me when I first laid eyes on my baby girl. I remember the day clearly and it's a memory I hope I never forget."
Little Kairo is growing up fast and her mom is making sure to teach her the ropes on how to become a successful woman. Happy birthday DJ Zinhle!
