- Dala helped the Proteas beat India in the 2nd T20I in Centurion on Wednesday night
Junior Dala is probably not a name most people know very well, but he has the potential to become South Africa’s next fast bowling sensation.
Dala made his debut for South Africa in the first T20I against India last Sunday. The 28-year old has been working towards playing for the Proteas for the last 10 years.
Dala says during his career, his mom Beatrice has always been by his side and given him unconditional support and love which he needed when a spate of injuries nearly ended his playing career.
Briefly.co.za gathered that upon hearing the news that her son would play for the Proteas, Beatrice was so overcome with joy that she broke down in tears.
“My mom started crying when I told her the news‚" Dala said.
Dala said receiving the call from Linda Zondi confirming he was part of the Proteas squad was surreal and the news took some time to sink in.
The Proteas bounced back in empathic style in the second T20I held in Centurion on Wednesday night. The South African batsmen reached their target of 189 with eight deliveries to spare.
Dala played a pivotal role in the match, he was the pick of the South African bowlers finishing with figures of 28/2. He took the prized wicket of Indian captain Virat Kolhi.
