Although 2020 was a difficult year for many across the globe it was also a year full of inspiration. People found their way in life, others started up their side hustles which, for some, turned into full-time jobs.

South Africans inspired each other with their stories of hard work and determination. Many tried their best to be a source of comfort to those that may need it, especially when their dreams fail.

South Africans have truly tried their best to do the most for each other by pushing up one another and inspiring with their own stories of struggle which turned into success. Briefly.co.za takes a look at some of the inspiring stories of 2020.

1. 32-year-old Tloks Lepara started his own fast-food restaurant in his community. The entrepreneur converted a township home into a restaurant and his business has just grown from there. Lepara has no tertiary qualification and was raised by a single parent who worked as a domestic helper.

2. Lusindiso Malgas lost his job as a warehouse packer due to the pandemic. The young father of three decided to make witty placards. The placards caught the attention of Brendan Cottle, who started a BackaBuddy campaign with the fundraising goal of R250 000. At the time of publishing the original piece, they had raised R34 000.

3. Pen Lloyd Maddocks, posted a snap of two boys who grew up together and are still good friends. The photo shows the inspiring friendship between Ethan Maddocks and Aluta Tonenji.

"Two boys who love each other like brothers, walking out of their final matric exam," part of the post read.

4. A young man named Mlungisi went above and beyond to trace Margot Vorster after he found her lost wallet. Margot and her father, Chris, were so impressed by Mlungisi's honesty and kindness, that they shared two touching Facebook posts in honour of him.

5. SAPS shared photos of police officers helping a community. They were photographed using shovels to make a furrow to divert the water away from the houses. South Africans were inspired by the post and they applauded the officers in the comment section.

In other inspiring news, Briefly.co.za recently reported on a local mom who swooned over her disabled son who will soon graduate with a master's degree. Tina Nokuthula Muthwa, recently took to Facebook's #ImStaying group to share how her son is achieving great things.

Her post includes pictures of her determined boy who suffers from a physical disability. In the pictures, the young man can be seen smiling as he graduates more than once despite being unable to walk on his own. Part of her post read:

"This is my son Lwandle Nkululeko Muthwa. He was born physically challenged. Through all the challenges we had. He didn't give up."
