Ajay Gupta is a wanted man in South Africa but in India, he doesn't have a worry in the world. He is believed to have sought refuge in India after the Hawks launched a manhunt after he failed to hand himself over.

Briefly.co.za learned that he was spotted on Tuesday on a flight bound for Puri in India. It is there that he is believed to be enjoying a luxurious life after his escape from South Africa according to the dailysun.co.za.

Contrary to the Hawks, the Guptas deny that they are fugitives in South Africa. The Hawks wanted to bring Ajay in for questioning for his involvement in the Estina Dair Farm project.

Lawyers representing the Guptas accused the South African police of being malicious, misleading and incorrect. They do not believe that the police are in possession of a warrant of arrest for Ajay Gupta and demand that they provide proof.

Someone close to Ajay revealed that he is enjoying life and is being offered the highest level of protection a private individual can receive in India.

“He all smiles here. I don’t think he’s worried about whether he’s a wanted suspect in South Africa. Ajay is a proud Indian who has shown the whole world what Indian businessmen can do. He is the number one businessman in India,” claimed the source.

Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi has confirmed that a warrant of arrest was issued for Ajay Gupta and the family was still wanted by the police. He said that him being in India made it difficult to arrest them.

“There’s a process that needs to be followed according to international law to have them arrested abroad.”

The Estina Dairy Project has been linked to a conspiracy to steal R220-million from the Free State which had been meant to improve the lives of black farmers.
