Close Beitbridge border trends as SA demands Zimbabweans be sent back

South Africans have responded to clips of scores of Zimbabwean nationals entering the country via the Beitbridge border. In the clips, the Zimbabweans can be seen entering the border that crosses into Limpopo in large numbers.

Many locals have expressed disdain at the foreigners who are attempting to make their way into the country. The hashtag, #CloseBeitridgeBorder has been trending as South Africans demand the border be closed.

Many locals have also blamed governmental officials who have allowed the Zimbabwean nationals into the country also citing that there are not enough jobs for South Africans let alone desperate foreigners.

Briefly.co.a earlier reported that various clips of hundreds of Zimbabwean nationals flocking into South Africa has been shared online. In the clips, the Zimbabwean people can be seen walking towards the border in large numbers.

According to reports, the people have no caused a backlog at the border as authorities wait for the hundreds of people to prove that they have tested negative for Covid-19 before gaining access to the country.

Many people also believe that despite being forced to wait for hours and risking being infected with Covid-19, the Zim nationals have decided that suffering while gaining entry into SA will be better than staying home in Zimbabwe which is currently crumbling under Covid-19 pressures.
