The Economic Freedom Fighters MP has warned that shutting the border between SA and Zimbabwe could cause a greater disaster than the Covid-19 pandemic itself:

“Our humanity is measured not by how we treat our friends and loved ones. Our humanity is measured by how we treat strangers/foreigners. The SA border crisis during this pandemic is the true test of our humanity. Don’t be inhuman. Open the borders. Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique are us.”

The debate over the popular crossing, known as a corridor to the rest of Africa, was sparked by the imagery of the post showing hundreds awaiting their turn to pass through.

As citizens debated the benefits of closing the border Ndlozi insisted that the notion should be 'rejected with all the contempt it deserves':

“Let our people in. They are part of us. They live here and have been living here for centuries."

The SA politician even took on Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa himself, urging him to make mobile testing stations available at the border:

“Chief, can you stop grandstanding on Twitter. Take mobile test stations to your borders with SA. This is the most urgent problem now. The border is presenting a big super-spreader event."

Ndlozi even cheekily asked the nation's leader if he was working or enjoying a holiday:

“Oh, and are you actually tweeting from a holiday or from work?”
