Trump has been banned from Twitter for inciting violence and South Africans have responded to the move by questioning why Julius Malema has managed to keep his account.

The Economic Freedom Fighters have an impressive grasp of social media and have certainly used it to their advantage, to mixed review, for a while now.

Every once in a while Malema's comments on the platform raise eyebrows and many have earned the party costly defamation cases.

Naturally, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is far from onboard with this campaign, defending Malema:

“Because Trump, like [Ernst Roets], is racist and incites right-wing violence. Malema, unlike Roets and Trump, is fighting against racism and all the violence it causes in the world. So, it’s his account that should be banned. But don’t worry, Twitter has left you to us: We will take you head on!”

Ndlozi insisted that the EFF will sort out AfriForum's Roets after he called for Malema to be dethroned:

“Your lies and conspiracies led white right-wing farmers to vandalise a court in Senekal. Just like Trump’s lies and conspiracies led to Capital Hill violence. So it’s Roets who should be banned. But don’t worry, in South Africa, we don’t need Twitter to ban you. EFF will sort you out!”

Malema, seemingly unphased by the calls for his removal had a very simple, straightforward response to the drama:

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that social media giants Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday, January 6 accused Republican leader Donald Trump of promoting violence through his official handles and subsequently barred him from posting.

According to a report by Forbes, the two networking sites removed two posts shared by the outgoing president after he voiced his support for protesters who stormed the United States Capitol, which is the meeting place of the Congress and the seat of the legislative branch of the US federal government.

In the posts, the controversial 45th US president had urged his supporters to go home but however, noted he understood their pain after his "landslide victory" was allegedly stolen from him by President-elect Joe Biden, who ran against him on the Democratic Party ticket. Trump's accounts locked.
