- Melissa Schreiber was walking her dog on the beach when she met two policemen
- The cops chatted to her, asked her about her day and the three of them had a lovely conversation
- Melissa says it changed her perceptions of policemen and gave her hope for South Africa
It seems as though a new day is dawning in South Africa with stories of hope being shared across social media on a daily basis.
One such story was shared by a young woman from Durban, who shared her tale of meeting two policemen on the beach on Tuesday.
Melissa Schreiber posted her story of meeting Officers Denver and Makathini on Facebook, and it's lovely to see that there are policemen who are making the effort to show the public that our civil servants do care about the people they're sworn to protect and serve.
Briefly.co.za learned Schreiber said that the officers' genuine interest in her and her life was wonderful to experience, and her perceptions of the police force have undergone a radical shift since meeting the two men.
"They asked me questions about my day, about my life and we had such a lovely, normal conversation as if we were friends! I did not feel threatened at all as a young woman interacting with two relatively tall and strong strange men. How often are we as citizens of South Africa, blinded by the negative things we hear and experience that we forget that there is SO MUCH good and hope for our country," she wrote.
Responses to the post were also positive, with people saying they were so grateful to live in South Africa.
Perhaps, with one story of hope at a time, the people of South Africa will unite to create even more positive change in our beautiful land.
