Mzansi actress and director Mmabatho Montsho has gone international. Her short film The Award Ceremony has won an international award. The film received the title of the Best Short Film at the Worldwide Women’s Film Festival in the USA.

Mmabatho also has another film titled Joko Ya Hao which has also been nominated for an award at the Pan African Film Festival.

However, this film didn't receive any awards. The film stars the award-winning singer, Simphiwe Dana.

“Thank you for the official selection of our film @AfricanFilmFest we can’t go to New York, but our film #jokoyahao can. Screening online 4-16February with @FilmLinc #NYAFF2021,” said Mmabatho.

Social media users were thrilled about Mmabatho's announcement and congratulated her for her latest film achievements.

The 37-year-old filmmaker was born in Soweto, Johannesburg and has a degree in Audiovisual Multimedia.

She began her acting career, appearing as a guest on SABC 1's A Place Called Home and her career took off. Congratulations to the star.

In other entertainment news, Briefly.co.za reported that Nomzamo Mbatha has been named as a black Hollywood star to watch this year. Nomzamo Mbatha has been named as one of the Top 20 Black Hollywood Stars to watch out for in 2021.
