AKA is turning 33 years old on Thursday, 28 January. Supa Mega is one of the most successful Mzansi rappers. He has won countless accolades, shared the stage and collaborated with the best in the world and he's still determined to succeed despite all the wins in his life.

Kiernan Jarryd Forbes was born in Cape Town, Western Cape but now lives in Johannesburg where he has been able to grow as a rapper, businessman and creative.

Mega started out as a producer for other artists but became very popular and gained significance when he decided to jump in the booth and record his own music.

1. Debut Album

The record producer's debut album was titled Altar Ego. He dropped it in 2011. It had hits such as Victory Lap, I Want It All and All I Know. The album was certified gold by RiSA for its commercial success.

2. Artists he has collaborated with

AKA has worked with talented and world renowned artists such as Nigerian superstars Burna Boy and Kiddominant and local stars such as Kwesta, Yanga Chief, K.O, L-Tido and Da LES, among others.

3. Awards and nominations

AKA shook the Mzansi music industry with his debut album Altar Ego when he won the Best Hip Hop Album at the 2011 Metro FM Awards and the Best Male Artist of the Year at the 2012 South African Music Awards. The star has also bagged the Best Collaboration award at the MTV Africa Music Awards and the Favourite South African Star at the 2019 Kids' Choice Awards, among others. AKA has been nominated twice in the Best International Category at the BET Awards.

4. TV show

Supa Mega now has his own TV show tiled The Braai Show on SABC 1. The show made its debut a few months ago but has been able to attract millions of viewers. The rapper-turned-TV presenter has interviewed famous people like Prince Kaybee, Fikile Mbalula, Robert Marawa and Sjava on his show.

5. Personal Life

AKA is the father of Kairo Forbes. He co-parents Kairo with his baby mama DJ Zinhle. The star is dating stunner Nelli Tembe. Since AKA started Nelli, he has been excitedly sharing snaps and videos of the two of them on his social media pages.

In other entertainment news, Briefly.co.za reported that AKA recently hosted Prince Kaybee on his The Braai Show. The episode was lit and left Mzansi chatting about it until hours later. It seems fans loved to see the industry bad boys get together and chat over the grill. Looking at some of the social media reactions, this may have been the best episode yet.

The rapper-turned-TV presenter took to social media a few days ago to explain to a fan why he only interviews famous people. A fan, who watched the show for the first time recently, had asked Supa Mega on Twitter why he doesn't interview upcoming businesses and artists.
