A local non-profit organisation, IkamvaYouth is active in shaping the future of its community by helping the youth by tutoring them.
Their plan is to help young and talented kids perform better in school in order to provide better opportunities in the future for them.
South Africa has hundreds of communities which have talented young men and women who are failing at school due to a lack of support within their communities.
IkamvaYouth sources volunteer tutors who guide youths through their schoolwork. Over 800 students are being assisted by tutors. Some learners have achieved a pass rate of 84.7%, which is higher than the national average.
The NPO has been in operation for 15 years and has helped youth pass matric and move onto study further or provided access to employment opportunities.
IkamvaYouth works with disadvantaged communities and has branches in 17 townships in five provinces.
The organisation has affected youth across the country in a positive way. They don't only offer tutors by also computer literacy courses, excursions and HIV awareness programmes.
