Sizwe Dhlomo Wants Covid Vaccines That Arrived in SA Counted

Sizwe Dhlomo took to social media recently to suggest that a thorough count must be carried out on the first batch of Covid-19 vaccines that recently arrived in Mzansi.

President Cyril Ramaphosa and some members of his Cabinet received the first consignment of one million vaccines from India on Monday, 1 February.

Sizwe took to Twitter on the day to share his thoughts on the vaccines that Ramaphosa said will benefit Mzansi's healthcare workers who have been at the forefront of the fight to curb the spread of the virus.

The Khaya FM presenter shared that maybe some of the doses had already been stolen when the vaccine arrived in the country. According to TimesLIVE, Sizwe said in the now-deleted tweet:

"Mhlambe sebeyicwiyile le-vaccine already. I say let’s do a stocktake. Count them all! A million right there in the rain."

In related news, Briefly.co.za reported that President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that foreigners living in South Africa will also be vaccinated for Covid-19. The president addressed the nation on Monday night, 1 February.

Ramaphosa addressed Mzansi a few hours after he and other government officials welcomed the first batch of 1 million Covid-19 vaccines from India. Ramaphosa expressed that government will be putting measures in place to deal with the challenge of "undocumented migrants" in order to record and track their vaccination history. He said:

"We aim to make the vaccine available to all adults living in South Africa, regardless of their citizenship or residence status."

Ramaphosa also explained that no one will be forced to take the vaccine against their will.

"Nobody will be forbidden from travelling, from enrolling at school, or from taking part in any public activity if they have not been vaccinated. Nobody will be given this vaccine against their will."
