- Bheki Cele is the new Minister of Police and social media has welcomed the change
- He's known as The General, and for a good reason
- Cele is not shy to say it like it is, and hopefully that's just what the police need
Fikile Mbalula was often the laughing stock of social media. Now, South Africans are welcoming the General back, as Bheki Cele takes over as Minister of Police.
The move comes following President Cyril Ramaphosa's Cabinet reshuffle, which welcomed Nhlanhla Nene as Finance Minister, and Pravin Gordhan as Minister of Public Enterprises.
Briefly.co.za gathered that The General, as he's known, is not recognised for his silence on matters affecting the public.
Here are some of his greatest, or at least, most memorable moments caught on tape:
Referring to the DA as popcorn:
"Bring back the dairy money ... you took our money for organic (milk) and went to wed people (Guptas) with our money. We want that money so that we can leave Mc Donalds," Cele said, speaking to Ace Magashule about the Estina Dairy Farm project.
A happy dance:
Commenting on the Hawks need to focus on State Capture:
Saying it like it is, when the ANC was still at war with itself:
Commenting on the Guptas:
And of course, social media is abuzz at the news that the General is back in business:
