Kaizer Chiefs' Itumeleng Khune seems to be kicking 2021 off on a rather rocky star as recent reports reveal the soccer star has lost a deal with dairy company, Danone's Danup, for which he was an ambassador.

The star first became an ambassador for the brand in 2016 and could be seen promoting the drink on his social media pages and also making frequent appearances in the product's television advertisments.

According to reports, the deal, which was not easy to make because of constraints the team had with Khune endorsing a brand independently, raked in an estimated R1 million a year for the goalkeeper.

Soccer Laduma reports that the deal has now come to an end with no actual explanation offered as to why Danone decided to end their nearly five-year-long partnership, despite being given the chance to reveal the real reason.

Meanwhile, Khune's career doesn't look as bright as it used to as the star is yet to feature in a match for the new year. Khune last played alongside his team members in December last year, and the wait seems nowhere near ending.

Briefly.co.za also reported that Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune is not everyone's favourite player right now but he doesn't care. He has posted a snap of himself on Twitter which just oozes confidence. Hopefully, that will translate into his performance on the field. He captioned the snap with:
