A woman from Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, has spoken out on Twitter about enduring four years of domestic violence.

The woman, who uses the name QueenNomazulu and the handle @AmandaCwazibe, shared photos of her scars and injuries, Briefly.co.za gathered.

She accompanied them with the caption:

My silence has been long and dark. Subjected to domestic violence for 4 years. Silence is for cowards.

The scars were on her face, hands and legs. Her right eye also appeared reddish.

Nomazulu's revelation went viral, eliciting over 2,300 retweets and 2,500 likes. Her followers and other Twitter users expressed their sympathies and some offered to help.
