Brakpan Fire Engulfs 9 Stores While Flames Lick Nearby Hotel and Flat

Brakpan residents have been left traumatised after a raging fire burnt down nine shops early this Friday morning. According to reports, the cause of the deadly blaze on Kitzinger Street in the Brakpan CBD is unknown.

The fire also managed to burn a part of a residential flat down, leaving some residents desperate and destitute without a home. A part of a hotel nearby the shops also received some damage as a result of the fire.

Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services spokesperson William Ntladi confirmed that firefighters were on the scene trying to contain the fire to the best of their ability early this morning. Sharing the news on Twitter, @YusufAbramjee wrote:

Briefly.co.za also reported that a lady lost her R350k Mercedes-Benz to fire hours after flaunting the luxury car on social media. In a video making the rounds on social media, the lady could be seen in her whip expressing joy after acquiring the new machine.
