Separating is hard enough, but when new partners entre the separated couples lives, thing become even more complicated.
This mother has taken the moral high ground and taught her daughter the importance of love and what it truly is. She has encouraged her to accept her ex’s new girlfriend and for her to accept her, herself.
The mother wrote a letter to the new girlfriend and the letter went viral.
She met her ex when she was 18 years old. They got engaged and had their daughter Riley. Their relationship ended due to distance and personal differences.
Riley is now four and lives with her mom, Audrey Loving, who has full custody, but her dad, Corey Henry , does see her as much as possible on weekends and is actively involved in her life.
When she was made aware that Henry had begun to date someone else, Loving was determined to teach her daughter to love and accept the new family member.
“I come from a blended family — I have stepsisters, half-sisters. Growing up, I heard the negative talk about the ‘other woman,’ and I didn’t want my kid to hear the same thing … It’s not fair. Kids are smart.”
“It’s awkward for her too — dating someone with a kid… I’m not interested in the baby mama drama … I welcomed her into my family with open arms.”
The two women put their differences aside and chose to accept and respect one another. This has served in the best interest of Riley and made her parent separation a lot more manageable for her. With love and acceptance, anything is possible.
