Mzansi Engineer Helped Build Parachute That Brought 2 Astronauts Home

Pele Collins is one of the many South Africans who are flying the South African flag high. The young man is one part of a team of Space X employees who designed and built a parachute system that was used to successfully bring two astronauts home from space.

Collins attended St John College as a teen and after matriculating headed of the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania where he successfully obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Robotics.

Not long thereafter the intelligent young man secured himself a job at SpaceX where he is responsible for the design, analysis, development, testing, production, and integration of the parachute system.

Collins is incredibly proud of his involvement in the success of the parachute project and speaks candidly about how being part of the team saw him go through many obstacles and work hard to find a way through them - which he eventually did.
