South Africa smashes the Guinness World Record with a mouthwatering 4.43 Km sandwich

South Africa has produced another record, although this one may not seem as amazing as an Olympic record it is nonetheless impressive.

Citizens gathered in Soweto where they proceeded to make a 4.43 km sandwich out of an astonishing 8‚100 50cm baguettes‚ 2‚600kg of grated cheese and 800kg of lettuce.

Briefly.co.za discovered that the previous record, which was set in Spain in 2013, stood at only 3.86 km according to timeslive.co.za.

Clover organised the event to launch a new product, Cream O'Naise mayonnaise. Mzansi has changed the way we view sandwiches forever.

Edith Molepo, Clover's senior brand manager, said that it took months of planning, a beautiful day and an amazing team. These culminated in the companies first ever Guinness World Record title.

500 litres of Cream O'Naise was used to create the sandwich which created quite a stir on social media.

Once the event was declared a success the sandwich disappeared, it was cut up and distributed to the children at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital‚ and those supported by the NGOs CHOC and The Gift of the Givers.
