Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius ‘Juju ’Malema celebrated his 37th birthday on Saturday. He attended the always popular Soweto derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
Juju celebrated in style and in the presence of 75 000 soccer fans at the FNB Stadium. Juju has over the years made his love of soccer very clear and he is one of Pirates’ biggest supporters.
Pirates put in a magnificent performance against their old foes to walk away with a 3-1 win, the team is now only three points adrift of log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Juju attended the match with EFF deputy Floyd Shivambu who is a well-known Kaizer Chiefs fan.
The pair was completely engrossed in the pulsating match and could be seen cheering and jeering each decision.
Shivambu was gracious in defeat and wished his boss a happy birthday even if it was at the expense of his team.
Regular South Africans and celebrities joined in and tweeted their best wishes to Malema.
The EFF is currently riding a wave of popularity after the land expropriation without compensation policy was passed in Parliament last week. The policy is a cornerstone of the EFF’s foundation.
