Briefly.co.za earlier reported that one-third of the first batch of 80 000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine have been allocated to the private sector. The portion of vaccine doses will be administered to the private sector over the next 14 days.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize said that all health workers need to receive the vaccine, regardless of which sector they work in. By the end of Saturday, 27 February, over 10 000 healthcare workers would have received the vaccine.

The vaccine programme in the country has already vaccinated around 3 000 private-sector healthcare workers. Business Live reported that the department of health noted there was a higher-than-anticipated demand for the vaccine from both doctors and nurses.
