According to EWN, the accused were arrested last year exactly six years after Meyiwa was murdered, on 26 October, 2020. The report added that the accused told the court they had nothing to do with the murder of Meyiwa.

A report by the SABC revealed that the case is expected to be postponed once more so it can be moved to the High Court.

Briefly.co.za previously compiled a 'year in review' of Meyiwa's case. It was reported that a hitman was questioned and he blamed Kelly Khumalo for Meyiwa's death. Despite so many people being present on that fateful day including Kelly's mother, sister and friends, no one can solve the mystery surrounding what truly happened.

Meyiwa's family believed that one of the men who was a suspect in the case of Meyiwa's murder is innocent. They even went as far as wanting to assist him. Meyiwa's brother, Sfiso Meyiwa said that the family believes that the men charged for the murder are actually innocent.

A key witness in Meyiwa's murder case reportedly died due to poisoning. According to a report, Thabang Makeleni was poisoned late last year shortly after he made a deposition to new investigators that linked five suspects to the case.

The report also said that Makeleni told the police who interviewed him that of the five people, only two had entered the premises. The other three were outside the property, one at the gate and two waiting in cars.
