Prasa's New Group CEO Noted as Being Too Old for His Position

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula announced Zolani Matthews as the first Group CEO of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) last weekend. It has now been revealed that Matthews is 'too old' to take up the new position.
According to the rail agency's policies, an employee 'shall retire on attaining the age of 63 years'. Matthews is 64 years old. The age was reportedly extended in 2009 in accordance with Prasa's provident fund policy.
Reports say that Section 18 of the policy states that employees may request consent from management to remain in the service after turning 63 on a contract basis.

GroundUp broke the news of Matthews age and the restrictions that come with his new role. The report stated that head of Human Resources at Prasa, Thandeka Mabija has returned to act as Group CEO until Mbalula resolves the issue.
Daily Maverick reported that Blade Nzimande told MP Chris Hunsiger in 2019, that a permanent Group CEO would be found in April of that year.
In other political news, Briefly.co.za recently reported that Duduzane Zuma recently headed online to share a clip of himself sharing supportive words with his dad Jacob Zuma. In a clip that has since gone viral on Twitter, Duduzane Zuma can be heard first speaking about political plans he has for the country and then he goes on to share words of encouragement with his father Jacob Zuma regarding his recent ConCourt defiance.
