The award ceremony takes place yearly, where the best television, movie and music stars are honoured.

Last year, big names in the international industry took home awards, including Selena Gomez, Calvin Harris and Fifth Harmony.

eNCA reported Black Coffee was nominated this year in the Global Star category alongside Taylor Swift, #BTS, Maluma, The Vamps and Zara Larsson.

Black Coffee took to social media to announce his nomination, calling on Africans to vote for him.

Thus far, 2018 has been Black Coffee's year. The South African DJ announced in January that he was staying at the posh Wynn resort in Las Vegas.

The musician is making the most of his time in the States, even performing at the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York City the passed weekend.

He even got the honour to sign a wall to leave his mark, writing "trust your dopeness" before placing his signature.
