The announcement by the minister of health of the origin of the world's worst Listeriosis outbreak revealed that the Enterprise cold meat factory in Polokwane was ground zero.
This has sent Kota sellers into a panic. Kota is a type of fast food served on the streets of South Africa, sometimes also referred to as township food.
Briefly.co.za learnd that the dishes often include cold meats and sausages. The listeria outbreak has threatened the existence of the fast food outlets due to people avoiding processed meats according to the dailysun.co.za.

Cyril Sefoka (28), the owner of Dijong Kota Place in Atteridgeville, Tshwane, has already noticed a sharp decline in customers. On a usual day he usually serves upwards of 100 kotas but today he served less than 50 and those that bought mostly ordered chips and atchar.
Kota lover Dimakatso Pale said that she asks for her sausages to be deep fried to kill the bacteria but she is still worried.
“I’m addicted to kotas but the thought of dying scares me,” she said.
This deadly outbreak might kill more than people, some businesses may be added to the list of victims.
Although the situation looks bleak Mzansi still finds the funny side.
