Jacob Zuma: Former President Misses Court Deadline for Affidavit

- Former president Jacob Zuma's legal representatives have not filed his answering affidavit

Former president Jacob Zuma's answering affidavit to the State Capture Commission for the application of contempt of court charge at the Constitutional Court was due on 8 March. Reports say that Zuma has missed this deadline.

The former president is refusing to appear before the Commission due to Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo. Zuma wishes to have Zondo recuse himself from the Commission before he appears.

The Commission filed the application in which they stated that Zuma should be jailed for two years for being in contempt of court.

Mail & Guardian reported that the registrar's at the ConCourt confirmed that no papers were submitted by the former president's legal representatives in response to the application by the Commission.

The report continued by saying there is a possibility that the former president will be found guilty of contempt as he defied a ConCourt order which stated that he needed to appear at the State Capture Commission.

Speaking to eNCA, legal expert Nthabiseng Dubazana stated that JZ should respond later than not at all.

In other news about Zuma, Briefly.co.za reported that his meeting with the ANC Top 6 left more questions than answers. However, a press briefing was held where the ANC reported back on the meeting.

Ace Magashule said that it was a good meeting that lasted seven hours between 10:30 and 17:30. Magashule took to the podium to answer several questions posed by journalists. Magashule made it clear that Zuma has not refused to appear before the Zondo Commission of Inquiry.

Magashule said that the ANC would respect Zuma's right to pursue legal options in relation to the Commission. However, the ANC did not go into detail as to what was discussed in the meeting, leaving many of the journalists frustrated.

The ANC's official Twitter account revealed that the politicians had positive and constructive discussions with the former president.
