South Africans woke up to the tragic news that legendary actor Menzi Ngubane had passed away. He had a 32-year-long acting career with a number of memorable appearances over the years.

His family confirmed that the 56-year-old passed away due to a stroke. A lot of people took to the internet to pay tribute to the fallen actor.

Briefly.co.za has put together a list of his 7 most iconic roles over his 32-year long career.

1. Cijimpi

This role was instrumental in catapulting Mgubane to fame in the SABC 1 drama Kwahala Nyonini as Cijimpi.

2. Mazwi

Ngubane took on the role of Mazi in the SABC 1 mini-series Ubambo Lwami in 1989.

3. Jerome

In another SABC 1 feature, Ngubane stood out as the villain Jerome in Gaz'lam.

4. Elliot

Internationally acclaimed show Yizo Yizo gave Ngubane the opportunity to play the role of Elliot, he reprised the role in the second season of the show.

5. Sbusiso

One of Ngubane's most memorable roles was that of Sbusiso Dlomo on Generations. He was among the cast who were replaced when they refused to work unless they were paid higher salaries.

6. Judas

Ngubane played the convincing role of a taxi boss in Seasons 4-8 of Isibaya. He played the role of a ruthless character appropriately named Judas Ngwenya.

7. Nkonzo

His most recent appearance was in eTV's drama Ashes to Ashes in which he played the role of detective Nkonzo Mazibuko.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that South Africans have lost another famous personality. Noxolo Mashaqalala was found in her home, it is suspected that she passed away a week before she was discovered in her home in Honeydew, north of Johannesburg on Friday.

She was known for her role in the SABC 1 drama Tsha-Tsha in 2003 in which she played the role of Viwe.

Mashaqalala had also starred in Rhythm City, Generations and Intersexions. What made the tragic news worse is that South Africans woke up to the news that Menzi Ngubane had also passed away.

In other news, Zahara has once again been struck by tragedy as her sister, Nomonde Mtukwana, passed away in a car crash on Saturday, 6 March 2021.

She posted a moving tribute to her sister in a Twitter post. Mtukwana was also a musician and part of the Mkutukana Sisters band.

The two were very close and Zahara had often said that her sister was her inspiration.
