- The EFF and the ANC are talking the same political and policy language at the moment
- This has revealed that the two parties actually have more in common than many previously thought
- This has placed the DA in a precarious position as the EFF are their coalition partners in a number of metros
Ronald Lamola, a member of the ANC’s national executive committee, has revealed that the EFF and the ANC are actually quite similar. He said that it was up to the EFF if they wanted to return to the fold.
Lamola is a former ANC Youth League deputy president and well versed in the inner workings of the Youth League and the ANC.
“My view is that there are no fundamental ideological differences [between the ANC and EFF]. I think at some point the roads will again converge,” Lamola said.
Briefly.co.za learned that this comes after the ANC supported the EFF's motion for land expropriation without compensation in the National Assembly, something the ANC rarely does according to the citizen.co.za.
The EFF has been calling for land expropriation for a long time and the ANC has adopted a similar policy at their elective conference last year.
This recent warming of relations between the two parties has seen the opposite happening with the EFF and the DA.
A motion of no confidence has been launched at the DA's mayor in PE Athol Trolip by their coalition partners the EFF. The red beret's say that this is punishment for not supporting the motion in the national assembly.
If Trolip is removed a new mayor would be elected and the EFF has said that they would support a credible candidate.
