The South African Communist Party (SACP) has called for justice to prevail in terms of the rule of law in the matter between the Zondo Commission and former president Jacob Zuma. SACP General-Secretary Blade Nzimande shared his views on the matter during a media briefing.

Nzimande stated on Sunday, 21 March, that the SACP Central Committee has called on the Commission to leave 'no stone unturned' to ensure that whoever needs to appear before it, does so. Nzimande added that the Constitutional Court must exercise its duties of independence.

According to JacarandaFM, Nzimande also spoke on the faction of the African National Congress that supports former president Jacob Zuma. Nzimande sent a stern warning to the members of the faction that he says uses Chris Hani's name to pursue their factional conduct.

A report by SABC News stated that Nzimande said any democracy that is 'worth its salt' should not leave threats of a coup or civil war unattended.

Briefly.co.za recently reported on Zuma after it was revealed that he is to appear before a virtual session of the Constitutional Court to hear the application by the Zondo Commission against him. The date has been set for 25 March 2021.

Zuma's Foundation also responded to the Zondo Commission's urgent application to have him jailed for two years. The former president's daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla shared an image of the statement to Twitter.

The application by the Commission follows Zuma's refusal to appear before the court resulting in the Commission making an urgent application to the Constitutional Court, according to News24.

Zuma refused to comply with three summonses that were issued by the court for him to appear.

The Zuma Foundation also requested that his case be 'struck off the roll' after slamming the National Prosecuting Authority. The call from the Jacob G Zuma foundation comes after it claimed that the National Prosecuting Authority planned to postpone the arms deal matter to 17 May.

In the meantime, Zuma has been enjoying tea with many politicians and other well-known names. The ANC Women's League confirmed their tea date with the former president last week.
