Local stars shine at the premiere of hit movie Five Fingers for Marseilles

Five Fingers for Marseilles is a western styled South African original film which was recently released at the SA International Film Festival.

The local stars of the film drew most of the limelight. The movie follows the journey of a former freedom fighter, Tau, who returns to a small town in the Eastern Cape called Marseilles and is caught up in a conflict within the town.

The cast of the film includes Vuyo Dabula, Mduduzi Mabaso and the legendary Jerry Mofokeng. The film is a successful hybrid of two different genres and its release has been eagerly anticipated.

In 2013 the film was awarded Best South African Film in Development at the Durban FilmMart's finance forum. The film was also screened at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival where it received critical acclaim.

The release and success of the film bode well for local films and may result in far greater investment in the film and television productions in the future.
