"My Ancestors' Wildest Dream Come True": Lady Proudly Bags Law Degree

Yvonne Shabangu is a bright young South African woman who refused to let various life obstacles stand in her way of bagging her Master's degree in law and achieving her destiny. Speaking to Briefly.co.za, she shared her journey to success.

"I studied law because of the passion that I have for serving people, either from a social perspective or from a business perspective. One thing about law, no matter the area of practice, the main focus is always ensuring that the client gets quality services and is assisted according to their needs.

"And I love to see people happy. Secondly I studied law because it is a very diverse profession, with a law degree you can become anything you want to be, it allows you to explore your maximum capabilities."

She then soke about her dreams for the future:

"I dream of becoming one of the best commercial lawyers locally and internationally. In future, I would like to run my own non-profit organisation that focuses on enhancing the lives of kids, youths, and women holistically."

But life wasn't always daisies and roses for Yvonne, who found herself in a terrible accident that saw her struggling while studying:

"In 2019 during my final year of my studies I was involved in a horrible accident that left both my legs badly burnt. This meant I could not walk to campus because of the amount of pain I experienced when I tried to walk or use my legs. During this season I became a baby all over again because I had to re-learn how to walk just with so much pain to it.

"My doctor had concluded that It would take me over a year to heal and longer to even walk properly. I became so depressed and anxious because I only had two options, either endure the worst pain I have ever experienced or drop out of varsity and continue after I heal."

Deciding that she would not back down, Yvonne pushed through and eventually graduated and is now the proud holder of a Master's degree in law. She also thanked her parents, whom she credits for most of her success because of their support. She also shares some advice with other youngsters who are hungry for success:

"We live in a world where there are so many voices and it is easy to get lost and misled. To every young person reading this, take your time and evaluate every voice and information at your disposal because it can either make or break you.

Keeping in tune with inspiring news, Briefly.co.za also reported that a 23-year-old man identified as Iniongun Victor has further proven that youths in the country are industrious. The young man combines schooling with furniture-making after learning the trade from his father in 2017, Daily Trust reports.

Victor, who is studying public administration at university, said it is not easy at all to juggle school and work but he finds fulfilment in the fact that he's able to fend for himself.

The student said he makes furniture for all classes of people and it gives him satisfaction, but also some good, decent income.
