On Thursday the country celebrated the International Women's Day, and President Cyril Ramaphosa weighed in on gender issues still plaguing South Africa.
Eyewitness news reported the South African president dedicated this women's day to the late Albertina Sisulu, whose centenary is being celebrated this year.
Ramaphosa urged South Africans to advance gender equality, so that men and women can position as equals in the country.
The president added South Africans should work together to improve the status of women and tackle economic and social issues that hinder young females from completing school and pursuing higher education.
