"This is painful and many South Africans are going through this not only SABC," @lebogang_mzansi captione the clip online.

South Africans were left feeling very emotional by the sad clip and were soon sharing their thoughts on the retrenchment news. Read a few of their comments below:

@lebogang_mzansi said:

"I remember her interview with @ITKHUMALO she was not agreeing with his views. Now South Africans are unemployed and can't afford TV licences. The people they protect sell TVs to customers without TV licences. Karma. I feel for them."

@Thabani_S3 said:

"Ya neh... as an outsider I'm not sure of all the dynamics that led to this but refusing to adapt to change, poor management, not giving the new breed a chance to introduce new content and ideas also contributed. I mean SABC was the leader in broadcasting and programming"
