Fans Want a Sabc Studio Renamed in Honour of Noxolo Grootboom

Since the veteran newsreader, Noxolo Grootboom announced her retirement tributes have flooded in for her. She read her last news bulletin on Tuesday evening.

Fans want more and one Twitter user said that a lot of people were thinking, @Chriseldalewis suggested that the SABC should rename one of its studios after her.

She also went further and suggested that a National Order should be bestowed on Mama Noxolo.

President Cyril Ramaphosa had delayed his national Covid-19 address to allow Grootboom a chance to say goodbye to the nation.

Other Twitter users suggested that an honorary doctorate in store for Grootboom for her contribution to the isiXhosa language.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that this week was a very emotional time for many South Africans who took some time to watch Noxolo Grootboom during her final news broadcast. Earlier this month, the journalist and news broadcaster announced that she was bidding farewell to the world of news production and moving forward to pursue other things.

Many South Africans propped themselves in front of their TVs as they bid farewell to Noxolo. After her segment was over, many of them headed online to share their thoughts of the final broadcast.

"#NoxoloGrootboom.Wow. Thank you mama," wrote one social media user.

In other news, veteran newsreader Noxolo Grootman said goodbye to news broadcasting yesterday and the nation was very emotional. Mam'Noxolo is loved by many in Mzansi for keeping the country informed on current affairs.

Somizi Mhlongo is one of those who showed appreciation to Noxolo and surprised her with a lovely pot-plant. Noxolo was at the 947 studios, doing an interview with media personality Anele Mdoda.

Taking to social media, 947 posted a video of Somizi gifting Noxolo the plant and it was indeed very heartwarming. Noxolo started crying when she saw Somizi. They captioned the post:

"Just when we thought the surprises were done, Somizi left his warm luxurious bed to grace #AneleAndTheClub as we celebrate umam #NoxoloGrootboom and her reaction says it."
