Bloomberg reports that Econ Oil & Energy won the deals with the alleged help of Thandi Marah. At the time, Marah was the senior manager of business enablement at Eskom. She allegedly interfered in the tender processes, according to Bowmans. The legal firm was commissioned by Eskom to conduct the probe.

The ANC’s Liliesleaf branch in Johannesburg was identified by the report as the recipient of the Econ Oil & Energy donations. Marah was reportedly the branch's deputy chairwoman in 2014.

She was suspended in December 2018 and took early retirement at the end of January 2019. When asked for a comment, Marah said she wasn’t aware of the Bowmans report and declined to comment further. The ANC's Pule Mabe was also not available for comment.

Ramaphosa calls for unity, says Mzansi would love a corruption free ANC

Fighting corruption is one of the key focus points for Cyril Ramaphosa in his presidency. However, the head of state has been battling to unite his party in his quest to rid it from corruption.

On Wednesday, while speaking in the Eastern Cape, Ramaphosa warned ANC members that being divided could be the party's downfall.

Ramaphosa made a plea with the ANC Youth League to assist in uniting the ruling party ahead of a movement to suspend many members should they refuse to step aside at the end of the month.

Briefly.co.za also reported that Mzansi singer Thandiswa Mazwai is very outspoken and has taken to social media to slam the ANC. Thandiswa believes that the ANC hasn't been doing enough for the black people in South Africa as she hoped they would.

"What a shame for the suffering masses who thought a black government would bring liberation from the shackles of colonisation and apartheid. Sies ANC!" said Thandiswa.

The singer started her statement off by saying that South Africans are disheartened because of "thieves" who have no conscience. She then spoke about her very popular song, Zabalaza, and why she wrote it.

She then said that the ANC is a fallacy and that the party cannot be followed because it is leading people into a life of difficulty. She tweeted:

"ANC leadership is a fallacy. You cannot follow the lead of that ship! It’s taking you deeper into despair!"

Thandiswa, along with a number of other South Africans, is frustrated with how things are going in the country, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic made problems in the party very obvious.
