"By the time I arrived, the Mamba had literally just been washed up on the shore again and catching it was really easy because the snake was obviously quite exhausted. The female Mamba measuring about 2.3m will be taken home and kept under observation until it can be given a clear bill of heath. Thereafter, it will be released into a suitable habitat away from humans," wrote The Snake Man.

Locals had this to say:

Martha Chetty said:

"Wow. I'm awestruck. I will not help. Had a phobia of snakes. Now I can look at pictures and watch on a screen."

Rajeev Shaun said:

"Eishh Jason, you hold them and make these deadly snakes seem as if they're your domesticated pets... yet you are inches away from death. That open mouth together with striking speed is something lots of us would never dare to chance. Your courage and knowledge you impart upon us is highly commended and appreciated. Thank you once again."

Briefly.co.za previously reported that another South African snake catcher, Nick Evans, who is also known as 'The Snake Man', recently shared a hair-raising story about how he was called to rescue a young guy after a large black mamba slithered into his room.

"On Friday afternoon, I received a call from a panicked young man who said that a long, thick, black snake had slithered into his bedroom, in the Welbedacht area.
"According to him, he was having an afternoon nap when he was awoken by the sound of things being knocked over on the floor of his bedroom. He sat up, looked down, and there was this black mamba, making its way into his room," his post read.
