Two long-time best friends shared their 100th birthday last Saturday. Matilda and Mickey have been friends for 50 years and in that time have lived only four doors away from each other.
Matilda credits having a beer and three potato chips with her longevity. She says has experienced good health during her life and still does all her regular exercises and experiences little to no pain.
The ladies said their deep and lasting friendship also helped to keep them healthy. Both ladies said they believe having good company helped them reach this incredible milestone.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Matilda and Mickey motivate one another to keep active and still go for daily walks in the park and every now and again the duo enjoys shocking the world by riding bikes.
Mickey was a military nurse for part of her life, she still has an optimistic lust for life which could just be her personal secret to longevity.
Mickey loves telling people about how she used to cheer up soldiers during World War 2. “Sometimes they'd come in extremely depressed and then I tried to tell about and show them about cases that would make theirs look pretty light.”
Matilda admitted that some nights she had more than three potato chips with her regular glass of beer.
