Norma Mngoma originally volunteered to testify at the State Capture Commission but now reportedly risks facing criminal charges if she doesn’t.

The estranged wife of former Cabinet minister Malusi Gigaba surprised the Commission on Tuesday when she revealed she would no longer be testifying against her soon-to-be ex-husband.

Mngoma's lawyer expressed concerns on behalf of his client that the Commission had mishandled her case. However, evidence leader Anton Myburg revealed that he wants her subpoenaed.

EWN reported that Mngoma will be issued with a subpoena to reveal the information she has regarding Gigaba’s dealings with the Gupta family.

Previously, Briefly News reported that Mngoma recently ditched appearing before the State Capture Commission. She was due to provide new evidence on her estranged husband, Malusi Gigaba's alleged relations with the Guptas.

Her lawyer read a letter out loud to Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo explaining that his client had instructed him that they were told on Monday night at Mngoma would not appear.

Zondo was surprised to learn this. He believed that she was ready to testify on Friday but her hearing was rescheduled to Tuesday.

It was also reported that Mngoma recently levelled very shocking allegations against both her estranged ex-husband and the Hawks.

According to Mngoma, her husband used the Hawks to get rid of crucial evidence in the form of photos of himself and the Guptas, who he had previously denied having any illicit involvement following an inquiry by the State Capture.
