A close friend of Lindani Myeni's recently started a GoFundMe campaign in order to raise money to bring Myeni back home to South Africa. On the page, the young man describes Myeni as gentle, strong and healthy. He also appeals to people to offer what they can to get Myeni and his family to SA.
Briefly News earlier reported Lindani Myeni had been shot and killed by American police officers in Hawaii, where he lived with his wife and two kids, last Wednesday.
Social media users are demanding #JusticeForLindaniMyeni. The reports that the rugby player attacked police officers and drove them to use deadly force were met with disbelief by those who knew him.

"We are fundraising to cover his transportation back home to South Africa, funeral costs and legal fees involved in the family's plight to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death. Help us find justice for this family man and prominent leader of the community.

Briefly News earlier reported that the lawyer representing the family of Lindani Myeni want the Honolulu Police Department in Hawaii to release all the information relating to the case. The prominent lawyer believes that the police are withholding critical information.
Jim Bickerton, the legal representative, believes the police have only chosen to release a small part of the body cam footage. The SABC reported that Bickerton also wants the 911 tapes in addition to the complete bodycam footage.
"The US lawyer representing the family of late Lindani Myeni is asking for the release of the 911 tapes and bodycam footage that precedes what the Honolulu Police Department has chosen to release. #sabcnews"
