PhD Student, 28, Opens KZN Detergent and Cosmetics Manufacturing Plant

-A 28-year-old chemistry student has opened her very own detergents and cosmetics manufacturing plant in Pietermaritzburg

-Ms Nomandla Ngcoya started the small business that now employs 6 people with just R1200 back in 2016.

Starting a small business may be tricky, especially if we come from worlds where education and resources aren't always easily accessible. That didn't stop 28-year-old PhD student Nomandla Ngcoya from giving it a shot back in 2016 when she founded D Chem Group, a chemicals manufacturing company, with just R1200.

The exceptional black chemist featured in the Mail and Guardian Top 200 young South Africans Science and Technology list in her University days and is using her academic and research know-how to create products that find use in daily life.

With the grand opening of her detergents and cosmetics plant in the Pietermaritzburg CBD on Sunday, the student hopes to continue expanding her enterprise and employ at least 10 people in the coming months.

Nomandla Ngcoya is definitely serving some serious black girl magic and today some of her top products can be found in major retailers like Spar.

Mzani's definitely fallen in love with this young woman's work ethic and took to the comments section to react. One user wrote:

"Well done Ms Ngcoya you did a great job,we hope there will be more than "ten" people as expected to be hired"

Meanwhile, Briefly News previously reported a young woman is making it big in the small business sector.

@Jade_Billions is seen in the streets of Tshwane where she is selling fat cakes and has recently taken to Twitter to inspire her followers. The Tshwane-based young businesswoman says money loves her and has thanked her ancestors for the guidance as she can now make ends meet.

In a caption on her buzzing Twitter page, @Jade_Billions said she only started selling the most favoured food item in Mzansi last Saturday but there is a huge difference as far as a response is concerned.

“I only started selling Fatcakes last week Saturday and I've sold approximately 1000 units. My God is working overtime actually idlozi likhona.”
