'Wish' Announces Deal with SA Post Office, Customers Are Hopeful

E-commerce company Wish announced a partnership with the South African Post Office (SAPO) on Wednesday, 21 April. In a shareholder statement, the company stated that it would be creating more consistent and efficient experiences for their customers who reside in SA.

The Vice-President of Operations at Wish, Thomas Chuang, stated that the company is aiming to democratise e-commerce by making it affordable, accessible and open to all. He continued by saying that the SA market is important for their business and the company's partnership with SAPO will ensure faster delivery time by over 50%.

Chuang explained that the partnership is critical in assisting with customer satisfaction and experience, adding that this would enable the company to serve their customers in the SA market.

According to the statement by Wish, the benefits in the deal will include the following:

Faster transit times (average 50%+)
End-to-end tracking visibility as well as delivery confirmation
Customers will now receive bundled shipments for multiple items
SMS and physical notifications on deliveries that are awaiting collection

My Broadband reported that Head of Logistics Sekano Kgalanyane stated that SAPO was attempting to keep up with trends involving e-commerce. SAPO has bettered its tracking system to the point of tracking international parcels, according to Kgalanyane.

Wish is an e-commerce mobile shopping service that was founded in 2010. Its headquarters are based in San Fransisco, USA.

In other business news, Briefly News recently reported that a R4 billion 150 000m2 development in Observatory, Cape Town has been given the green light by the City. The construction of the mixed-use development will be predominantly utilised by the US conglomerate Amazon.
