Celebrities Shakira and Cate Blanchett have written a letter about the current state of Planet Earth.To mark the current year's Earth Day, The Earthshot Prize – dispatched a year ago by Prince William and The Royal Foundation, has today distributed an open letter.

The letter has been endorsed by individuals from the elegant Earthshot Prize Council including Shakira, Cate Blanchett and Prince William.

Named ‘Give the Earth a Shot', the big-name upheld letter raises concerns that are to the danger of the Earth as “the most pressing challenge in human history”.

It remains as a source of inspiration for the world to react to the environmental emergency with a similar urgency and thoughtfulness as has been shown for the worldwide COVID-19 crisis – before it is past the point of no return.

When joining the board in October 2020, Shakira shared her concerns about climate change to Prince William, she said:

"Your children, my children – they have to find ways to reduce carbon emissions, to repair our oceans, to clean the air."

Shakira thinks that the world needs youthful personalities to contribute, which is the reason education is so significant to her. Shakira says that they need to lead the way and we need to do it now.

"I know it's ambitious and I know there will be so many challenges along the way but I also know there will be so many who will rise to the occasion," she said.
