Many South Africans were left with a ton of questions after @AdvoBarryRoux shared snaps of some SANDF (South African National Defence Force) members patrolling the area where president Cyril Ramaphosa was addressing residents.

"Why did Cyril Ramaphosa deploy SANDF in Bloemfontein yesterday? Does he really need SANDF protection when addressing people?" the Twitter post read.

Of course, other locals were soon wondering why too. Many of them took to the replies section where they shared their thoughts and concerns on the deployment of SANDF officials at a simple address.

Local government elections are around the corner and Ramaphosa pounced on this to address the challenges facing service delivery and corruption in local government. The Democratic Alliance delivered their own speech on Freedom Day, during which John Sttenhuisen promised to deliver good governance.
