An unidentified man was recently filmed riding a shopper trolley at a fast 60km/h down a residential street in uMgeni Park, Durban.

Briefly.co.za learned that a local resident, Terry Lewis, shared the video on YouTube. His caption indicated that the incident happened on Wednesday, 14 March.

The video has already racked up over 2,400 views. Terry titled it: "60 km per hour on a shopping trolley. Only in Africa."

Speaking to Northglen News, Terry said the man's daring ride surprised him:

He was doing around 60km/h. I couldn’t believe it when I began driving down Browns Drift Road – he was cruising. He didn’t look perturbed that I was behind him.
He kept checking to see how close I was to him and I lost sight of him as we neared the traffic lights.

Terry added that he used to skateboard down the road as a teenager. However, this was the first time he saw someone "trolley surfing."

It's unclear how the man was able to stop or slow down the fast-moving trolley.
