South Africa's First Lady, Dr Tshepo Motsepe, is currently recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery.
The news was confirmed by President Cyril Ramaphosa's spokesperson confirmed on Thursday.
Khusela Diko said that Motsepe should be released by the weekend, following her surgery, Briefly.co.za learned.
"She is recovering well and should be discharged by the weekend. We wish her a speedy recovery," Diko said.
"We can confirm that [she] was admitted to hospital earlier this week. She had a knee operation."
Motsepe, herself a medical doctor, is understood to be recovering in an unnamed hospital in Johannesburg.
