The flirting game can be a frustrating one sometimes. For one guy, however, it was a chance to use his knowledge of football to knock down a girl's defences.

A Twitter user, Jaden Osteen, shared a screenshot of the unnamed guy's WhatsApp conversation with an unnamed girl.

The screenshot shows the boy asking the girl to be his, something she refuses because she has a boyfriend already. What followed was hilarious.

This is how the conversation unfolded:

Boy: Babe, I really want you to be mine
Girl: Lol. I have a boyfriend, sorry
Boy: Well, goalposts have keepers but strikers still score
Girl: Lol, you look like a defender in this one then
Boy: Sergio Ramos is a defender but he has scored in two champion's league finals

When the girl said her boyfriend is tall and rich, the boy had an answer to that — Messi is shorter than Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer but still chipped a ball over him.

The girl mused that the boy didn't give up, to which he responded:

Boy: Chile kept playing for 99 years before they went on to win Copa America. And then they won it back-to-back. So...
Girl: Lol, your knowledge of soccer will really take you places.
Boy: Lol. Surely will. And the next destination is your heart.
Girl: You know I could just block you right now.
Boy: In 2006, Petr Cech tried blocking Stephen Hunt from scoring. Cech ended up hurting himself alone.
Girl: Lol you are a genius. Call me; I'm free this weekend.
